Drafting Chairs Can Reduce Your Stress While Designing
The practice of designing is a very creative but tedious one. It normally requires that the designer practically stay hunched over the drafting table while working on the design. This may take hours and in the process, it s very easy for the designer to get tired and even develop strains all over the body as result of the posture which is adopted as he pores over the design. Naturally, every designer will want to avoid those pains which come with the extensive periods spent standing or sitting on an uncomfortable chair in front of his design. Drafting chairs actually help out in this regard as they are specifically meant for use by the designer while working n the drafting table. The problem usually faced by designers is that the drafting table is a bit high and the average chair cannot reach that height thus making it imperative that a chair of favourable height be used.
I will explain here how the drafting chair can reduce the stress which designers face in carrying out their work.
Height adjustment. This is the most outstanding problem faced by designers. They always have to contend with the low height of the normal chairs against the rather high drafting tables. The drafting chair has made it possible to reach the height of drafting table as it has a height which is commensurate with that of the table. The designer thus, can adjust the height of the chair in accordance with his/her own height or level of comfort.
Foot rest. As in other kind of office chairs, there ought to be a foot rest which will allow the user to place his feet properly on a surface. This will distribute the weight proportionately given that the back of the knees will not ache.
Supportive back piece. The back piece of the drafting chair permits the user to rest his upper body against the surface thus taking the weight off and putting it on the back piece and making the user more comfortable. This region of the body is the part most susceptible to pains during long periods of immobility. Most of the drafting chairs which have this feature are adjustable.
Padding. The padding which comes with some drafting chairs cushions the body of the user and makes it much more comfortable to use. It operates such that it absorbs the weight of the user and prevents the weight being put on the vertebral discs. This also helps to relieve whatever tension that the user may have in his or her body as a result of the extensive work.
Memory setting. This feature has a premium price attached to it given the fact that the feature is an expensive one. It allows the drafting chair to retain the body characteristics of each individual user so as to automatically adjust whenever that user takes the seat. This is very useful if you are sharing the chair with other people.
A drafting chair is a sine qua non for the designer who really desires to spend the usual lengthy periods standing over the drafting table in order to put up his designs. The normal strain which they suffer will be quite reduced and where possible eliminated. The bad posturing occasioned by the demands of the job which includes standing is taken care of by the features such as the footrest and the adjustable backrest.
It is imperative that the designer takes into account all these factors as he looks for a drafting chair to buy.
